Risk Management

Risk management is a structured approach to managing uncertainty through means of Risk Assessment then developing strategies to manage it.

The objective of Risk Management is to reduce different risks related to a preselected domain to the level that can be managed or even removed. The strategies include transferring the risk to another party, avoiding the risk, reducing the negative effect of the risk, and accepting some or all of the consequences of a particular risk.

The Risk Assessment is THE most important step in the risk management process, and may also be the most difficult and prone to error if it is not performed by professionals with experience in that domain. Once all risks have been identified and assessed, the steps to properly deal with them are much more programmatically.
